  • Both X and Y 2024 Over 55 League challenges got off to a slow start with both teams going dwn in their respective matches.

  • A most enjoyable afternoon, aided by the weather forecast being completely wrong in as much that rain was forecast by the met office all afternoon, but we didn't see a drop!

We may have lost overall, but the game was played in good spirit and we were made to feel most welcome with excellent hospitality.

  • Our Secretary wrote

“What a fantastic turnout for the Green Opening Day yesterday!
With a combination of a fine day, a desire to see how the Green has progressed during the winter and actually get the bowls running outdoors again, nearly 75 members attended the first Roll-up of the season to either play or watch.
I am reliably informed that this was the largest Green Opening attendance in the history of the Club. It certainly brought a smile to President Gordon's face.
Chairman Tom was kept very busy checking everyone in for the Spider and subsequent roll-up. He started with a list that went up to about 36, then he had to increase it to 48, thinking that it would be six full rinks, but still members kept arriving and when his list reached 54 it was a case of change the Green around for seven rinks - unheard of for Opening Day.
Well done Tom for organising the teams in such a short amount of time and thanks to all who helped turn the Green at short notice. Thanks also to Wendy and Nigel for managing the bar.
On behalf of the Management Committee, many thanks to all who attended and made the Green Opening such a success.”
